Diplomatic academy of Peru

• August 1955: By Supreme Decree No. 326, August 18, 1955, signed by the Chancellor, Dr. David Aguilar Cornejo, is the basis of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru and is approved for its first Regulation.
• April 1956: The ADP starts operations under the leadership of its first Director, the eminent diplomat, lawyer, professor, author, ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs and ex-Senator, Ambassador Alberto Ulloa Sotomayor. (1892-1975).
• 1958: Graduation of the first class of the ADP, “Raúl Porras Barrenechea”, which had as a graduate the first woman diplomatic career, Martha Reynoso Castañeda. Just A few years of graduating, according to the laws of the time, Martha Reynoso was retired from the Diplomatic Service, for having married with a young colleague.
• 1972: Named Carmela Aguilar Ayanz as an Ambassador, being the first woman to ascend to the top position of the ladder diplomat.
• 1994: Enter the first promotion that is studying for the master's degree in Diplomacy.
• 1995: He graduated the first class with a Master's degree in Diplomacy.
• 2004: Transfer of the Academy to its current headquarters, the “House Ambassador Igor Velásquez Rodríguez”
• 2005: It is established that the Academy confers the Title of a career Diplomat, as well as a Masters Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations.
• May 2011: The institution adopted the name of “Diplomatic Academy of Peru Javier Pérez de Cuéllar” as recognition of the illustrious peruvian ambassador, two-time Secretary-General of the United Nations, ex-President of the Council of Ministers, ex-Chancellor of the Republic, among other senior positions he held in Peru and abroad.
• 2015: The master's degree in Diplomacy and International Relations, ADP is recognized by the National Assembly of Rectors.

• The property occupies the ADP has the name “House Ambassador Igor Velázquez Rodríguez” as a gesture of gratitude to the distinguished diplomat peruvian (1933-2005), who selflessly donated the property for use of the institution.
• Another benefactor has been the Ambassador Gonzalo N. de Arámburu and Roses (1899-1980), who stipulated in his will that at the death of part of its assets were assigned to the institution, for the better fulfilment of its purposes. This allowed that in 1984, he became the Foundation's Diplomatic Academy of Peru.

• Master's degree in Diplomacy and International Relations: A two-year program that combines both theory and practice, recognized by the university system of peru.
• Courses: Addressed to officials of the Diplomatic Service of Peru, that are mandatory within the career plan and taken into account in the process of promotions. Considering that a good part of those officials are carrying charges on the outside, such courses are given by electronic means, through the virtual platform of the Academy, in coordination with the General Office of Human Resources of the foreign ministry.
• Student exchange: The ADP receives students from different countries who conduct studies of a year or two years in the Master along with the aspirants to the diplomatic service, which allows students to exchange experiences with colleagues from other countries.

The programs of studies included in addition to aspects relevant to the promotion of economic and cultural, international cooperation, soft skills, among others.

The satisfactory completion of two years of graduate studies, upon substantiation of the thesis, graduates of the ADP receive a double degree:

• The degree of “Master in Diplomacy and International Relations”, recognized by the university system
• The professional title of “Diplomatic(a) of the Race”.

Then, are enrolled in the Ranks of the Diplomatic Service with the rank of Third(a) Secretary(to).

After two years of being admitted to the Diplomatic Service, the young officers are appointed to serve in the missions of Peru on the outside:

• Embassies
• Consulates
• Permanent representations to international organizations

• Extracurricular activities: Students participate in seminars and conferences on the field of diplomatic endeavor that offer regularly recognized specialists peruvians and foreigners.
• Study tours: To complement the lesson plans, annually students take field trips to various regions of the country, in order to make direct contact, on the ground, with the national reality.
• Professional Practice: Between January and march of each year, the students who have completed the first year of the Master made professional practices in the different offices of the Chancellery, as well as in the missions of Peru on the outside.
• International Events: The Chancellery provides students the opportunity to participate in international events of relevance.
